Miracle A/S

About

Martin has a dream, that one day he will wake up and the whole world will speak in the same language. That language is SQL. Martin has extensive experience in regular DBA tasks but making systems run and doing day to day maintanance is just to trivial for a SQL Server rockstar like Martin, thats why he founded performanceduo with coworker Jakob Tikjøb Andersen to seek new challenges in bridging performance and scaling issues from both the developer and databaseside at once.

Martin works with a wide range of some of the largest corperations in Denmark with various SQL Server tasks mostly focused around performance and high availability but with the occasional digression to backup strategies, consolidation and ETL.

To put it in short: If you have a problem, and no one else can help, and if you can find them you can hire the performanceduo!

Session description

Auditing with a twist (with Henrik Sjang Davidsen)

Do you have an old application that uses a database with a lot of stored procedures? Have you ever wondered how you could verify which stored procedures are actually still being used by your application? Come to this session, and we will show you how the auditing features from sql server 2008 have helped www.dba.dk (Den Blå Avis A/S) do a massive cleanup of their thousands of stored procedures.

Instrumenting, Monitoring and Auditing of SSIS ETL Solutions

Have you ever been struck by the lack of detailed logging available within SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) ?
The packages that make up your solutions probably contain extra code to facilitate effective monitoring,
control and profiling.
However, increasingly, SSIS is being used to unify data found on disparate yet related transactional systems.
These need to be monitored and profiled in the same way as formal BI solutions but often the resources
available are much more meager.
What do you do when something goes wrong and the functionality of the packages
is not transparent via internal state reporting.
This session will introduce you to an improved version of DTExec.
By passing the appropriate state flags it can reveal the internal activity of packages without having to
make any changes to the packages themselves.
