- Automated Functional Testing of iOS applications
Description:
Thorough testing of native mobile applications often requires many resources, is error-prone and consists of tedious repetition of the same test-cases with each iteration or test release. Automation of these tedious tasks would free up business resources and let them focus on more interesting problems.
In this talk we look at the state of automated testing on the iOS platform. We briefly mention unit testing, but focus primarily on automating functional tests (sometimes also called 'UI' or 'acceptance' tests). We review three different approaches, UIAutomation, Frank and LessPainful, focusing on the tradeoffs present when selection an approach.
Benefits: Attendees will get an overview of the options for automated testing on the iOS platform, including benefits and downsides of each approach. There will be concrete advice and references on how to get started and why it matters.
The technical level will be medium. Beginners may not understand all points. but will still get an overview of the area.
